Intro To Business In The Flow

Do you know what it feels like when you are "in the flow"? Everything feels right, you experience lots of energy, you feel centered, adversity rolls off easily. You also feel connected to something beyond yourself. There are many, many attributes to the experience of "being in the flow".

Through the sometimes intense and sometimes sporadic study and practice of meditation and various schools/disciplines of spiritual development I have learned to value alignment. This was not a new concept to me when my life took me to a point of crisis where my spiritual learning began. I had been a semi-professional modern and jazz dancer and alignment in the physical dimension is a key concept in the development of one's body as a dancer. As a dancer I could feel the flow when my body was aligned, when I was "in my center". So it was a relatively easy transition to begin to understand the need to align the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual centers of one's being.

From there it was a slow but natural progression to understanding that alignment is also key to transforming a business to be in the flow. I prefer to use this description of a business goal rather than traditional ones because in my work with small to medium size enterprises of a wide variety, the traditional goals of maximizing profits and unlimited growth do not necessarily lead the members of the business organization into the flow.

Businesses have lives of their own that extend beyond their owners' beings. There are physical, emotional, mental and spiritual centers to the business organism as there are to the individual. Recognizing the need to align these centers in order to experience flow is the background of my business philosophy.

I often counsel clients on the importance of understanding their role in creating expectations in their business relations, especially with customers and employees but also in all other business relations. Consequently I will state here that this is my first experience at blogging and I have no idea how often I will blog and on what topics and in what order but I hope that I will be of interest and help to those of you who follow me here.
